Hey Reader,
Happy Wednesday 👋
One of the most common questions I get from people is, "If I start photography now, will I be able to make money in the future? Or is AI just going to replace me?".
There’s growing concern about AI destroying creative industries right now.
It's impossible to predict how everything will evolve, so I totally understand where this concern is coming from.
But when it comes to photography, here’s how I see it:
Photography is about to become MORE valuable, not less.
"Why is that Ben?", you might ask.
Well, because in an age where everything is becoming fake, the things that are real will stand out even more.
Because of this, photographers will be more trusted and appreciated in the AI era:
- We show people reality
Anyone can type a prompt into an AI tool. But only a photographer can say: I was there. I captured this moment. This happened. In a world full of simulations, our work becomes evidence of something real.
- We bring people together - human connection
Clients don’t just buy images. They buy the experience of working with you, being photographed (or having their real products or services photographed), and telling their story. That trust and connection is something AI can never replicate.
- Authenticity as currency
As AI floods social media and media in general, audiences will start questioning: is this even real? The photographers who double down on real locations, real people, real cars & automotive experiences, real stories and real passion will stand out. And they’ll get hired more often.
So no, AI isn’t going to kill photography or photographers.
Cameras and photography has been around since the 1820’s, and it’s not going anywhere now.
If anything, in this new age of AI it’s only going to highlight the power of what we do even more.
And those of us build brands around authenticity will be the ones everyone turns to when they want something real.
👉 Question for you: Do you see AI as a threat to photography, or an opportunity to stand out? Hit reply and let me know your take, I’d love to hear it (I may not reply, but I read all replies).
See you in the next one,
Ben
