Hey Reader,
Happy Wednesday đź‘‹
If you’re new here, welcome to my weekly newsletter where I help photographers and creators grow their skills, confidence, and creative careers.
This week’s topic is a big one:
How do you make your work stand out in a sea of other creators?
The answer isn’t better gear, fancier locations, or copying trending edits.
It’s something deeper and more powerful.
📸 The Stand-Out Photographer’s Checklist:
- Know yourself, or stay invisible.
You can’t differentiate yourself without knowing yourself and what value you can bring. To set yourself apart, always lean into the things that make you YOU.
- Skill unlocks style.
Before you can find your unique voice, you need to build the skills. Master the basics. Learn your tools. Get those reps in. You don't find your style, your style finds you.
- Build your taste from many sources.
Don’t limit your inspiration. Pull ideas from photographers, painters, designers, movies, music; anything that resonates to you. Then remix it your own way. "Good artists copy, great artists steal." - Pablo Picasso.
- Combine inspiration with time.
What makes your work unique isn’t just who inspires you; it’s how you remix those influences with time, practice, and your personal taste.
- Let your values lead your visuals.
The way you see the world is different from anyone else. When you create from that place, your work becomes unmistakably yours.
If you're feeling like your work isn’t standing out yet, you're not doing it wrong.
You're just in the early chapters.
Stick with it. Keep creating.
And keep tuning into who you are, because that’s where your best work will come from.
➡️ What inspires your photography style right now? I’d love to hear! Hit reply and let me know (I read all replies even if I may not respond).
