Hi Reader, happy Wednesday!
I turned 32 back in March, and whilst I definitely don't have it all figured out I thought I'd share a bit of my journey through life and some advice for anyone that may need it.
There’s a lot of advice out there about how to live in your 20s.
Some say push yourself, take risks, and focus on building your future.
Others argue that balance is key—you should enjoy life now, not just grind endlessly for a payoff that may never come.
I’ve lived both sides.
I spent years in a corporate job that drained me, feeling like my life wasn’t truly mine.
At 29, I discovered photography and went all in.
I worked my 9-5 and used every spare moment to build my business—late nights, early mornings, and an unrelenting drive to make it work.
I knew that if I didn’t give it everything, I’d regret it.
One year and 7 months later, I quit my job and became a full-time creator.
Looking back, sacrificing balance in the short term was the best decision I ever made.
If you resonate with my journey and are looking to do the same, here’s what you need to know:
- The Effort You Put In Now Will Shape Your Future
Most people work just enough to get by. If you push yourself to do extraordinary work, you’ll create extraordinary opportunities. The time you invest now will pay off with more freedom later.
- Build Skills That Set You Apart
Your 20s are the perfect time to learn, fail, and refine your craft. Push yourself to become world-class at something. The better you are, the fewer limits there will be on your career and income.
- Short-Term Sacrifice, Long-Term Gain
When you’re all in, some things will take a hit—like sleep, diet, and health. It’s not sustainable forever, but in your 20s, your body can handle it. I pushed harder than ever before for two years. The key is knowing when to shift gears. Sacrifice is part of the process, but it shouldn’t last forever.
- Use Your Time Wisely
Being busy doesn’t equal being productive. Cut out distractions and focus on what moves the needle. Every wasted hour is an hour that could take you closer to your goals.
- Your 20s Are the Perfect Time to Take Risks
You likely have fewer responsibilities now than you ever will. No mortgage, no family to support—this is your chance to go all in. Fail now, and you have time to recover. Succeed, and it can change your life.
So, Should You Push Yourself or Find Balance?
That’s up to you.
But I can tell you from experience—going all in was worth it.
The long nights, the sacrifices, the relentless pursuit of something bigger than myself—it all paid off.
Now, I wake up every day doing what I love.
