Filling The Gaps

and more to help you fill in any gaps.

Hi Reader, happy Wednesday!

A question that I get asked often is:

"How do I become more consistent?"

For this week, I thought I'd share some thoughts with you just in case it's something you might be struggling with at the moment.

Let's jump in!

---

In the last 3 years I have posted over 1,700+ times, grown to over 1 million+ combined followers and quit my 9-5 job.

And there is one thing that helped me to achieve all of that.

Being unreasonably consistent.

It’s sounds simple, because it is.

But there is a difference between “simple” and “easy”.

Showing up almost everyday for years in pursuit of my goals has been one of the most difficult things I have ever done.

When I first started my journey I had no idea what I was doing (and I still don’t), but I knew that if anything was going to happen I just had to show up.

Just like any skill, I built up my ability to be consistent.

I kept things as simple and as stress-free as possible all in the interest of showing up as much as I could.

And on the days where life got in the way, I focused on still moving forward even in the smallest way possible or catching back up when I had more time and energy to spare.

Consistency isn’t some sort of cheat code once you nail it, but it is the foundation that everything else is built from.

Building that foundation puts you in a very small percentage of the population that look to make consistent progress instead of making excuses.

By focusing on the simple things and the actions that most people aren’t willing to take, that will get you most of the way to where you want to go.

  1. Take action to get out there and take photos as much as you can.
  2. Swap from the consumer mindset to the creator mindset and learn from people that are doing what you want to do.
  3. Take inspiration from others to make getting started easier. Photo styles, video formats, etc.
  4. Set goals and routines to ensure your success (post once a week for 1 month, then twice a week for the next month, then three times, etc.).
  5. Slowly build up, stay patient and keep things simple.

I didn’t know where all this would end up when I started in 2022 and I still don’t know where it’s going.

But just like back then, I’m comfortable with not knowing and just taking actions everyday to move forward.

The small step of getting 1% better everyday makes you 37.7 times better over the course of a year 💪

1.01^365 = 37.7

(1.01 to the power of 365)

Let’s keep pushing and getting better together 📈
