How To Simplify Social Media to Win Every Time

Filling The Gaps

Sharing my experiences, skills, self development hacks,

and more to help you fill in any gaps.

Hi Reader, another value-packed newsletter coming at you for this week!

If you’re a photographer or creative trying to grow on social media, you’ve probably asked yourself questions like:

  • What time should I post?
  • Should I use hashtags?
  • How can I hack the “algorithm”?
  • Will this post actually perform?

I’ve been there too—stuck in analysis mode, overthinking every little detail. But here’s the truth I’ve learned:

Complexity is the enemy of consistency.

When you’re juggling client work, editing sessions, and trying to grow your presence online, small worries can pile up and stop you from hitting “post.” The more complicated you make it, the less likely you are to show up.

The mindset that changed everything for me:

Think of social media like a slot machine… but one where you always win.

Every time you post—whether it’s a reel, a carousel, or a single image—you’re moving forward. Maybe the numbers aren’t wild, but you’re building your brand, getting better at your craft, and showing people what you’re capable of.

That’s the long game. And it pays off.

🧠 5 Ways to Keep Social Media Simple (So You Stay Consistent)

  1. Post without overthinking.
Don’t waste time worry about what the social media “gurus” say. Just hit post as much as you can and over time you will find your unique style and voice.
  2. Don’t chase perfect timing.
Consistency > timing. You’ll learn what works by doing.
  3. Create a repeatable system.
I plan 2 weeks of content in one go. This is a good balance of being structured and also leaving me room for flexibility. Then I have set times in my week to batch edit to be as efficient as possible—make life so much easier.
  4. Use reliable content pillars.
I rotate: POV photography content, motivational video, editing walkthroughs, talking-head videos, etc. Find your 2–3 go-tos.
  5. Measure your wins by action, not likes.
If you posted today, you’re doing the work. That’s a win. Likes, shares, comments and followers are a byproduct of action, not the focus.

What’s one small thing that’s making social media harder than it needs to be right now?
