Hey Reader,
I had a conversation with a young photographer a couple of months ago.
He’s turning 18 this year.
And it made me realise something…
If he just sticks at this for the next 15 years, he’ll STILL be younger than I am right now (I'm 33).
Let that sink in.
We’re so quick to feel behind.
We compare ourselves to people who’ve been doing this for years (I'm definitely guilty of this).
We look at where we "should" be.
We think we’ve missed it.
But most of the time…
We’re just impatient.
This all takes time.
Not weeks.
Not months.
Years.
And that’s not a bad thing.
That’s actually the opportunity.
Because if you just keep showing up…
- Keep shooting
- Keep posting
- Keep improving
- Keep putting yourself out there
You build something most people never do.
You don’t need to have it all figured out right now.
You don’t need to be the best.
You just need to be:
Consistent enough to stay in the game.
That should be your only goal, to stay in the game.
So if you feel behind right now, try this:
Zoom out.
Look at where you could be in 3–5 years if you actually decide to commit.
Not perfectly.
Just consistently.
Most people don’t fail because they’re not good enough.
They fail because they stop too early.
You’ve got more time than you think.
