This week, I want to talk about something that changed everything for me when I was just starting to turn my passion for photography into a career:
Making it real.
On February 5th, 2022 I decided that I wanted to make photography my job.
And I didn’t wait around.
That same weekend, I went all in. Logo, website, ABN, socials, the whole thing.
It wasn’t perfect. But it was real.
And making it real gave me something powerful: momentum.

5 Things You Can Do This Weekend to Make It Real
1️⃣ Name your business.
Use a name generator or just something personal. Don’t overthink it. Just pick and move.
2️⃣ Create a logo in Canva.
Simple, clean, and fast. You can always update it later. Right now, it’s about looking legit. (Optional: why not also design and print business cards?)
3️⃣ Build a basic website.
Use Squarespace, Wix, or even a Notion page to showcase your story, services, and sample work.
4️⃣ Set up your socials.
Create your Instagram, Facebook, or LinkedIn profile. Add a bio. Post something to let people know that you're open for business.
5️⃣ Set up your business structure.
Grab your business, set up as a sole proprietor/sole trader. Just get the ball rolling.
These steps might seem small, but they’ll shift how you show up and how others see you.
Once I had this all set up for myself, it meant I was invested, taking it seriously and showing up like a pro.
And just 84 days later I landed my first paying client bring in $442.50.
